Ava
Ava is one of a kind! Ava was pulled from high intake facility where she spent over a year in and out looking for that perfect family. The kennels were loud and over stimulating for a dog like Ava. You see, she’s got working dog in her blood. She had such a hard time in the high volume shelter that she became urgent to move. Her biggest fans reached out to BARK to help save her life. After meeting her, we couldn’t say no! Ava is loyal, smart and a complete blast to be around. She loves to please and enjoys making you wonder just what she will do next. Ava loves to play fetch. She can sit, shake and lay on command. She has a mind of her own though, she will be as silly as she can be just to make you laugh. Ava is mostly dog friendly and loves to romp and play. She would do great in an active household but wouldn’t mind evening walks and couch snuggles as she’s getting up there in age. Ava is on a special diet due to a sensitive stomach from past issues. Wonder & Wish
Wonder and Wish’s story belongs in a children’s book about resilience and faith. These two came to us by complete chance, if that’s something you believe in. We think they were meant to find their way to BARK so they could find their way to you! Wonder and Wish were found at a roadside park just next to the Lake Whitney Dam. But unlike most dogs found there, they seemed to be healthy! We immediately knew this was a special pair as Wonder (Rottie) was completely blind and Wish (Jack Russell) kept her out of the traffic. We knew we couldn’t separate them even for a minute. They both were extremely healthy, maybe even a little overweight. Both had been spayed and neutered and heartworm negative! We were shocked when no one contacted us after posting flyers and fb posts. Wonder is the sweetest. She loves to be snuggled and enjoys being where people are. Wish is no different, he’s the “muscle” of course but he won’t turn down a lap. They both ADORE kids and seem to be pretty dog friendly. Potty trained and both know basic commands. They would need to be in a calmer household, but kids wouldn’t be any issues. About Me

Kayce
Kayce couldn’t be more perfect. Let us tell you a little about this precious soul. Kayce has had the worse luck before he showed up here at BARK. Kayce was found roaming the streets in Valley Mills. The person that found him, picked him up and took him to her home in Morgan. After a few days, Kayce showed a dislike for smaller animals. So the finder reached out to us. We offered to come scan him for a microchip since he was neutered, we might get lucky! After about a month of not getting an answer, we got a huge plea to come get him scanned. We rushed out there and sure enough, he was chipped! We immediately contacted the chip company and the Humane Society of Central Texas where they told us he had just recently been reclaimed by his owner. We contacted that owner who seemed to be happy we found him at first, then immediately blocked us and the finder. It had appeared that his owner dumped him just outside of McLennan County and forgot he was chipped. After about another month, we get a call from Valley Mills that they needed help with a dog in their kennels (they can only hold so long). He had been found roaming the streets, image how surprised we were to see it was Kayce…dumped yet again but this time by the “good Samaritan”. We immediately took him in. Kayce is an absolute lover! He would prefer to be the only animal in the house but doesn’t have a huge issue with larger dogs. He cannot be around anything smaller than him. His prey drive is too high. He LOVES kids and anything who would give him a nice belly rub! Kayce knows sit, even though he will likely end up being on his back for more scratches. He is a great dog and a staff favorite! Bear
What we could say about Bear, wouldn’t be enough! He is so much fun to be around! Bear came to us when his owner fell ill and could no longer care for him or his sister Penny. Thankfully, one of our amazing friends of BARK adopted Penny quickly! Bear still is looking for that perfect fit. He is still pretty young and full of silly energy! Bear is the most dog friendly dog we have ever met! He’s ready to play with any dog he meets! He even makes some of our pickiest dogs comfortable! He loves to leap-frog his yard mates and make sure he lets them catch him a time or two. Bear is still young and we are still working on leash work but other than that, he’s pretty perfect! Bear needs an active family or lots of land to run on. He is great on long walks and is pretty great with recall! Bear knows basic commands and is willing to please! Bear would play all day and lay on the couch with you at night, without a question. About Me

Hooch
The silliest of silly boys that every sillied….is Hooch. Hooch has been at BARK for quite some time. And we have no idea why!! Hooch was an owner surrender, unfortunately, due to family issues. He doesn’t have a horrible, sad backstory but he has been waiting for his family for far too long! Hooch loves to make us play a game of catch with him…and we don’t mean with a ball. He will run and dodge us as a game. We won’t admit it to him, but we kind of enjoy it. He’s so goofy and has the best personality!! He would do best with dogs bigger and that could handle his silly behavior. He would also be good with an active family or one with older kids. Hooch is super smart and loves to show you his ability to sit and his beautiful singing voice when he’s not quite sure if you’ve noticed him sitting there. About me

Amistad
Our sweet Amistad has had it a little rough his entire life. Amistad came to us from a high volume shelter that needed him to go quickly due to his past history there. This history was absolutely not his fault sadly. He has spent more than half of his life in a kennel environment. Amistad was in and out of that facility from returns to stray situations. He ended up coming back with clear signs of abuse and fear of loud noises as well as large objects in people’s hands. Amistad is way more comfortable with us here at BARK but he needs a place to lay his head. Amistad loves humans and just wants to stick to them like glue. He is loyal, smart and incredibly sweet. He is a super chill dog so he doesn’t need a super active family. He prefers to be the only pet in the home from past trauma it seems. About Me

Bird
The life Bird lived before she made our way to BARK we may never know. She was seen for months roaming around Laguna Park. Most of the time, she was pregnant….Which is exactly how she was when we were contacted about her. She had been walking up and down the bluffs begging anyone for food and he was extremely pregnant. It took some begging and a little bit of cheese but she let us take her in. It was like she knew she would get the help she needed. Bird had her puppies in our care and all were sent off to their forever lives once weaned. Bird is still with us, waiting for her shot. Bird likes most dogs she encounters but prefers male submissive dogs. She is protective of her people but warms up with a few treats! Bird deserves her shot just like her puppies got. We are hoping we can find that for her in your home! About Me

Hank
Hank had a home at one point. Sadly, he kept escaping that home. Maybe from boredom? Maybe from lack of attention? Who knows really? The owner had grown tired of keeping him contained and surrendered him to the City of Meridian pound. This isn't ideal for this sweet boy as he is still young and full of life. So the city reached out to us with a plea. He had been there for over a month and they were out of time holding onto him. A city employee offered to foster him through us to save his life and help him find his forever home! Hank is dog friendly, people friendly and loves to play. He would be great in an active home! Gracie
Gracie lived most of her life with a family who loved her dearly. She had fur siblings and got the care she needed. Unfortunately, her owners got older and had to move into a facility that Gracie wasn't allowed to come to do to her size. So they contacted us. We believe, Gracie is the oldest dog in our kennels at this time. Gracie is our office dog! In order to hold that title, she's required to be the best greeter we have! Gracie doesn't take her job lightly either. She gives everyone who comes through our door a kiss and lots of snuggles. Gracie is friendly to all shapes and sizes of humans. As she's gotten older, Gracie has become more particular of the types of dogs she wants to entertain. She prefers younger dogs, puppies are the go to. She isn't great with smaller dogs as she was in the past. And she's picky about the older dogs. Gracie is perfect to us, we hope she can find her perfect home with you. About Me

Otter
Otter is one of a kind! He is special needs, but that doesn't slow him down a bit. Otter came to us from a family who bred two dogs that were too far apart in size difference. The mom was only about 40lbs and the dad was well over 80lbs. Sadly, breeding this way is harmful to the mother. She had 4 puppies, one of which got stuck and passed away. Luckily, the mom survived. We aren't a fan of breeding to begin with, but this was irresponsible. Otter was born without the ability to stand or walk. At 4 weeks old, he was the size of an 8 week old puppy and was diagnose with sporadic nerve damage in his back legs and hips. Otter learned quickly, in order to keep up in his foster home...he better learn to walk. With PT and lots of TLC he gained that ability and can move just fine. Now, his back legs are still very wobbly and he cannot do normal things like scratch anything with those back feet. But he can hop on them and run the best he knows how. Some days are harder than others, so Otter will come with a wheel chair for those days. He is dog, cat, and kid friendly. He loves anyone he meets. Sadly, he is growing up in his foster home at now almost a year! About Me

Dude
Dude has been with BARK far too long. This big love bug would be the perfect companion for someone who doesn’t mind talking this big boy into leaving the comfort of his bed. Dude is a very large boy, and the bigger they are the more likely they are to think they can fit right in your lap. Dude is no different. He’s not a super active dog, so he would be perfect for a truck driver or someone who just needs a lounging partner. He is very dog selective so might not do well in an apartment setting, even though he has the mentality of an apartment dog. Dude has lived far too many days in our kennel. He’s easily one of the top staff favorites from his goofy demeanor and always wanting to be held. Dude needs a home to show all of the visitors his stuffed animals. If you’ve ever been to our kennels while he’s in his, you’ll see him pick up their nearest stuffy and show it off to all visitors. He’s pretty special, we hope you will see that too. About Me

Quill
Quill, otherwise known as the Guardian of the Galaxy…or maybe just the kennels. Quill is so silly and we love everything about him. He was found with 5 other dogs, locked in a house for 9 days without a way to get food or more water. The police stepped in and we were able to take Quill and Gatorade (who has since been adopted). Quill, instantly showed us he loves to be a little goofy to make you smile. He’s dog friendly and loves people. He’s great with kids! Sadly, Quill isn’t a fan of kitties so he would be a no go if you have any. Quill is a pretty active dog, but doesn’t mind lounging with you. So if you have another dog to play with him, that would be perfect! Can Quill become the Guardian of your heart? About Me

Rip
Rip is just as gentle and perfectly handsome as his namesake. Rip is our longest resident here at BARK. And that breaks our hearts. He is a senior and hasn’t had the easiest life. Found as a stray, he has been with us through it all. Rip is very low key. Doesn’t require much more than being covered up when it’s cold. Matter of fact, he will guilt you into that every time. Rip’s heart is huge and he loves to snuggle with his favorite people. He would be okay with a female dog that is calmer. He doesn’t mind chill kiddos either. He is a great protector and will make sure no one or thing would hurt his humans. Rip needs a calm place to live out the rest of his sweet years. And what a blessing that would be for anyone who had that opportunity. Come by and let Rip steal your heart, but he won’t break it like a cowboy would. About Me

Willie
Willie wants you to know, you’ve always been on his mind. That he will always love you. Can you do the same? This gorgeous boy came to us with his brother Waylon (who has since been adopted) from a shelter that sadly has to euthanize for space. These two boys had been there too long and were on that list of possibly going next. Willie is young and full of love to give. He is a little shy at first but warms up very quickly. He loves other dogs and would absolutely need to have a fur sibling in his home. He doesn’t mind kitties either. He’s pretty good with kids if they go slow at first. Willie is an active boy, because he’s barely a year old. So he will need lots of room and fun activities to keep him happy. He would be amazing for a family who likes to travel and see the wide open. Or a family who loves to be moving. Willie deserves that shot, we knew that the day we took him in. We hope you will see that when you meet him as well. About Me

Brazos
Brazos is a sensitive boy, but a good boy none the less! Brazos was found with another dog, Mims (who has since been adopted) in the area of…you guessed it the Brazos River. Brazos was very shy and nervous about everyone when he first came to us. That’s not exactly the dog we know today. Sure he takes a little time getting used to some one new, but this boy is a lover to the core once he comes out of his shell. Brazos has been with us 2 years now without a single person to take him in. Don’t worry, his foster spoils him very well. Brazos prefers quiet, sweet kids to even adults. He is good with other dogs and doesn’t seem to mind cats. He would do better without chickens though. Brazos is sweet and cuddly, he deserves the very best and we will make sure he has that…is that you? About Me

DUTTON
Dutton is a lot of love, in a small body! This beautiful, pint sized, lover was dropped off here at the kennels. He was found originally roaming around Bosque County. The finders didn't have any clue what to do with him and were fearful the farmers would shoot him, which was already threatened. So we took him in. He was so skinny but he was still very interested in giving us lots of love. Dutton isn't super active but still needs a little exercise to keep him out of trouble. He will get anxious and chew up things if left without that exercise. He loves other dogs and kids. We have not introduced him to any person that he didn't love! Dutton is sweet and smart, unless you are a water hose....steer clear of those. He isn't fan. Dutton would make anyone lucky to have him. About Me

Penny
Our sweet lucky Penny is one of a kind! This adorable pup was found right on the border of Clifton left behind. We had to trap her as she was far too shy to come over willingly. But the moment we had her, she was an absolute doll! Penny is still quite young! She’s a sweet girl who seems to love every dog she meets. She is a little shy but warms up so quick! She loves kiddos and would do great in a home with both kids and dogs! She is super smart and just wants to please! She would be the perfect addition to any home! About Me

DAYTON
Dayton has spent a majority of his life behind a kennel door. That's, sadly, because of his past life. Dayton spent over 500 days in a city shelter where he was at risk of losing his life. We pulled him in hopes of rehabing him to be someone's perfect pet. Dayton was anxious, fearful and over stimulated in the kennels at that shelter...here he is relaxed and so much happier. Dayton prefers to be the only pet in the home. He was not socialized as a puppy to people or other animals, so sadly he is a one dog dog. He loves hard once he bonds and will do the absolute most to please and protect. Dayton needs to be in a home where he might not encounter a lot of new people. He does not love to meet strangers. He would do great in wide open spaces with us this human to love. We know that's a tall order to ask for, but we truly believe Dayton has a human out there for him. About Me

SUGAR BEAR
Sugar Bear was found with, what we think, was her puppy in the summer heat. Both clearly had some skin issues and lack of nutrition. Sadly, her sweet puppy passed away from what we can guess was a heat stroke. Sugar was taken in and is being spoiled by a foster until we can find her a family. Sugar is being treated for her skin issues. It's just a flea allergy that got a little out of control. This is common in her breed. Sugar is kid friendly, seems to love to play with other dogs and is very smart. Sugar would be a great addition to a family who's active but still likes to relax. She does have some separation anxiety so a person who works from home or who can take her to work would be perfect for this precious girl! About Me

ED
Our sweet Eddie Spaghetti is just about as perfect as they come. At least in our opinion! Ed was a spoiled boy his whole life. He went everywhere with his owner and never left their side. Sadly, his owner got into a situation that Ed had to find a place to go quickly. So he came to us. Ed is so smart and is always VERY excited to meet anyone who wants cuddles. He knows basic commands but we are still working on his leash skills. He has come such a long way! Ed is calm and quiet once he's out of our kennels. He's excellent at adoption events too! He has been adopted once but sadly returned do to no fault of his own. Ed needs that family to love him! He loves kids and gets along with almost every dog we have introduced him to! Ed is so perfect...come meet him!! About Me

Luna
Have you ever seen a more adorable girl? Luna spent a lot of her life begging for food and being ignored. She had a litter of puppies and had to fight even harder to find food to feed her and her babies. We were able to capture her and the babies and bring them to safety. Luna is perfect. She's dog and kid friendly! About Me
SEX: Female AGE: 4 years BREED: Husky Mix SIZE: Medium LOCATION: Foster Petey
Petey is a very special boy and is going to require a very special family! Petey was born completely feral with a few other siblings. They were found roaming Walnut Springs with their mom Luna. She was doing her very best to keep these babies alive and she did one heck of a job! Petey is the last of that litter to find a home. He's come a long with in his foster home! He needs a minute to warm up but he's super sweet when he does. He is a great foster brother to all of the dogs in his foster home. He's not met a single dog he didn't like, even puppies! He for sure needs another dog to keep that confidence up. He loves open spaces and doesn't require a whole lot of attention to feel loved. A farm or ranch would be perfect for Petey. He's good with calmer, older kids but we are sure that would change with the right home. Petey is a great dog and we can't wait to see where life takes him! About Me

Mimsy is such a sweet girl! She was found roaming with her sister in Bosque County. The finder tried everything to find her owner, without any luck. They decided to pay to get her and her sister spayed and up to date on their vaccines to try and help find them a forever home. Tami, her sister, just recently found her a home where she lives the good life on a farm! Mimsy is, sadly, still waiting for that chance. She is spoiled and gets to play with other dogs at her foster mom’s house. But longs for that special place to call her own. She is dog friendly, of all sizes. She is kind and all people friendly. Seems to not mind much! Mimsy would be perfect for just about any home. But would definitely love one with other dogs to play. About Me
SEX: Female ESTIMATED AGE: 1 year POSSIBLE BREED: Shepherd Mix SIZE: Medium LOCATION: FOSTER Cletus
Cletus has a sad story to tell you. He was found on his own, extremely underweight. He was so skinny we weren’t even sure what his breed might be completely. He should be somewhere between 75-90lbs but he only weighed a mere 60lbs! Even though he was skinny and near death, he is still so sweet and loving. Cletus went into a foster home to try and get the TLC he needed. Sadly, the female dog in the home did not love that Cletus was getting any attention. So his foster was forced to find other options. Fast forward to him needing a place to go before going into a very full, high kill shelter. We stepped up and started his healing journey with us. Cletus loves humans of all shapes and sizes. Cuddling on your couch is right where he would love to be! Cletus is still healing inside and out but he is neutered and ready to be loved in home of his own. Cletus would do fine with other dogs, just needs to be dogs that won’t bully him. He is going to be a big, beautiful boy. We are a little partial though. About Me

SHASTA
Shasta is a pretty incredible dog. She was found roaming property in Bosque County and taken in by one of our board members before the unthinkable could happen. Shasta found herself in a great foster home where she learned to love all kinds of dogs. She is bossy, as we have learned with most of our brindle females. She needs a dog friend no doubt. She lived in the foster home for a few months before she was adopted. She lived on a ranch for about 4 months before she was returned due do another dog not enjoying her being around and picking fights. Shasta is back with her foster now, and she is looking for that forever spot. She would be great on any ranch or farm. She's good with kids, puppies, and most dogs of all shapes and sizes. She loves running next to the side-by-side and helping you with the property! About Me

Drax is a goofy boy who has no idea how big he is. Drax came to us as an owner surrender. He was adopted from the same situation our boy Quill came from (abandoned in a home with 8 other dogs) but the adopter had a life change and could not take this sweet boy with them. Drax love kids and literally anyone he meets. He is a little selective about dogs but not too much if they give him his space. He tends to love bigger male dogs the most. Drax can sit on command, but we are still working on his leash skills. Drax had been adopted from us once but was returned due to not getting along with the dog in the home. Otherwise, they said he was absolutely perfect. Drax is goofy just like his namesake and would be perfect in a home that doesn't require him to do much more than cuddle on the couch. He would be a great dog for someone who spends time on the road too! About Me

Onyx is special in every way possible! Onyx came to us as a surrender when his owner got into some trouble and no longer wanted Onyx. This sweet boy has come a long way here with us at BARK. His first few days were pure fear and tried everything he could to keep us away. Now he love all the attention and love from the staff and anyone he meets. Onyx loves kids but can get a little too excited so older kids might be best. Onyx has some past issues that require him to have CBD for his anxiety issues. He's a great dog, knows how to sit and just wants to please. Onyx does like dogs but he will need a dog to tolerate his play style. He is a little rougher than most of our dogs. His smile can light up the world! About Me

Cowboy is one of a few dogs we have had left behind at our kennels. Unfortunately, his owner could no longer care for him and thought that dumping him in front of BARK was the best option (it never is). We couldn’t leave him out there, so he is now part of our pack of silly pups. He is very young still, barely a year at most. He loves to play fetch and play with anyone who’s willing to. Frisbees and balls are the quickest way to this adorable goober’s heart! Cowboy seems to be a little dog selective. Females might be the best option for this little guy. He is young, and we are working on manners, so that will need to continue if adopted. He needs a job and a place to play endlessly! He would absolutely need an active family! About Me

Max was found with Chica on a backroad in Bosque County. They were both absolutely skin and bones. One of our board members took these two in temporarily until we could make a space for them. Both were fixed and had chips when found, so we dove in to find more information. Sadly, Max’s chip led back to the Dallas Animal Shelter from 2018. His owner on the chip had passed away tragically. After digging as far as we could, we decided Max found us for a reason. This adorable boy loves everyone he meets! He is a little shy at first, but warms right up. He prefers quiet dogs and will play once he gets used to them. He’s a sweet heart with the best ears in the business! This gorgeous boy deserves the best life possible. About Me
